December Malawi Update

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM FUTURE VISION MINISTRIES

Newton Sindo, FVM’s Country Manager in Malawi reports on numerous ongoing activities. Take 5 minutes to read a few highlights and enjoy the pictures. They’re worth 1,000 words!!

Our programs continue with excellent attendance and support from the local communities.

EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT: The number of children cared for, fed a nutritious meal and receiving basic preschool education in FVM’s two locations increased to a total of 523 daily.

SPIRITUAL CARE: Community Bible sessions continue as well as Chichewa and ChiTumbuka radio broadcasts weekly on Trans World Radio.

THE SUNUZI HEALTH CENTRE  is nearing 95% completion with the solar power system and backup diesel generator on site from South Africa in the process of being installed.

SUNUZI HEALTH CENTRE nearing completion.

This will bring desperately needed medical care especially for women and children, to a population of 30,000 people.

THANK YOU to all of you who have supported this work financially and with your prayers over the last 14 months.

Construction is subject to 16.5% Value Added Tax (VAT) from which we have an exemption BUT the Malawi government collects the tax as we build and then reimburses it upon completion. Being at the mercy of the MRA (or the CRA or IRS!) for a very significant amount of money requires a lot of faith.

CHIEF TAULO PASSES AWAY ON DECEMBER 27TH

Chief Taulo will be greatly missed as a traditional chief with authority over more than 20 other chiefs in the Sunuzi area where FVM works.  He has been a leader, mentor and unfailing champion of all FVM’s initiatives right from the start of doing a needs assessment in the area.

Newton Sindo, FVM’s Country Manager writes. “Our work was easy because of his servant – leadership. He was open-handed and a cheerful giver over the years. We are really hit hard.”

It is through his generosity and influence that we have the land for the Sunuzi Health Centre.  He was a tender-hearted man whom we all loved, not only as our Chief, but as a brother. His contagious laughter will make Heaven rejoice as he is welcomed “home”.

We will miss you.
