THANK YOU
Thank you to all of you who have so faithfully partnered with FVM throughout 2025 and into 2026. You deserve more than a tax receipt! You have made an immensely positive and life changing contribution to the lives of many here in Malawi.

Please forgive me for not thanking you with a personal email as we usually do. Your Malawian family will thank you some day in person. That will be far more meaningful than anything I can say.

BRIEF MALAWI NEWS UPDATE
You will receive a May newsletter within the next few days, but here are a few highlights and updates from the last 6 weeks here. The first two weeks with Terry Wills (FVM board chair) comprised 10 hour days of meetings with government and health officials, lawyers, contractors and tax authorities (you don’t want to know all the details!) with Newton Sindo (Country Manager), Tiwonge Selemani (Finance Officer) and Gloria Kantikana (Sunuzi Health Centre Administrator).
Chris, Anita, her husband Andre and two boys, Nolan and Xavier, arrived for four phenomenal weeks of assistance with many aspects of FVM’s work and great family time together.
You will read more of their perspective on Malawi and the Sunuzi Health Centre in the upcoming newsletter.
SUMMARY OF RECENT DEVELOPMENTS WITH THE SUNUZI HEALTH CENTRE
The end result of the first two weeks is that with unanimous approval from the FVM – Canada board and the FVM team here in Malawi, the Sunuzi Health Centre will be a private health centre owned and operated by FVM, not affiliated with the government or any religious / faith – based entity. We were left with no other option than to go this route and it frees FVM to manage the facility, staff and supply chain (including pharmaceuticals) to the highest standards of care, while giving us total freedom to carry out our mission and mandate “to minister to the needs of the whole person, spirit, soul and body”. Our Malawian team of Gloria on site full time, Newton as Country Manager, and Tiwonge as Finance Officer gives us the confidence to go forward.

The 1000+ registrants will access the Sunuzi Health Centre.

FINANCIAL STATUS OF THE SUNUZI HEALTH CENTRE … MONTHLY BUDGET GOING FORWARD
As a private health centre, the Malawi government is still mandated to supply certain pharmaceuticals and trained personnel to administer them. However these may frequently be in short supply. Everything else is the financial responsibiliy of FVM on an ongoing basis.
THE OPERATING BUDGET IS CURRENTLY SET AT $14,500 U.S./MONTH.
This will depend on inflation (currently 40+%), the devaluation of the local currency and the stability of government fiscal policy.
FOR OUR AMERICAN FRIENDS … A NEW 501c3 IN JUNE www.fvm-us.org
In the USA, until now you have been able to contribute to MGL in Washington State and receive a tax receipt for funds designated for FVM – Canada. As of the end of April, this was no longer possible. A new 501c3 is being established and will be functional in June to receive funds for the Malawian work.
Check out the American website: www.fvm-us.org
YOUR PARTNERSHIP AND A BIG ZIKOMO KWAMBIRI!
And so we look forward to an ongoing partnership with you, our friends and donors. This is a new era of possibility for FVM in Malawi in which many thousands will be blessed.
